Swedish Hill Winery Wins “Best Riesling” at Critics Challenge International Wine Competition
July 3, 2013 – Romulus, NY Swedish Hill Winery announced that their list of accolades just increased with eight gold medals from two recent international wine competitions, the Long Beach Grand Cru and the Critics Challenge. Of those medals three of them were top honors including a double gold medal, a “Best of Class” and “Best Riesling.”
Since its inception in 1995, the Long Beach Grand Cru has experienced continual growth in size and prestige, and is today considered one of the top international wine competition in the U.S..
Swedish Hill Winery claimed an impressive five gold medals at the Long Beach Grand Cru including a “Best of Class” for their sparkling Blanc de Blanc. The 2010 Late Harvest Vignoles won it’s now 14th gold medal at this venue, making it one of Swedish Hill’s top award-winning wines in its history. The other three gold medals were awarded to the sparkling Spumante Blush, Blue Waters Chardonnay and Doobie Blues.
The Critics Challenge International Wine Competition took place in San Diego, CA June 22nd and 23rd and judged 1,454 wines from 15 countries. Here, Swedish Hill Winery claimed a gold medal for the sparkling Spumante Blush, a double gold for the 2012 Riesling, and “Best Riesling” for the 2011 Dry Riesling. The recent honor brings this vintage of the Dry Riesling to an impressive eight gold medals overall.
