Swedish Hill Brings Home Seven Medals From Two California Wine Competitions
March 4, 2014 ̶ Swedish Hill Winery is proud to announce that they were awarded seven Gold Medals, including a Platinum and a Double Gold Medal, between the International East Meets West Wine Competition and the Monterey Wine Competition.
The International East Meets West Wine Competition awarded Swedish Hill with four Gold Medals for the 2012 Riesling, 2012 Blue Waters Chardonnay-Riesling, 2011 Cabernet Franc, and the Blue Waters Riesling which also claimed a Double Gold Medal.
This competition is one of the oldest in the nation, established in 1975 as two separated branded competitions, the International Eastern Wine Competition and the West Coast Wine Competition which were combined this year but judged in the two separate divisions.
The Monterey Wine Competition judged 537 wines this past weekend and awarded Swedish Hill with three Gold Medals for the sparkling Blanc de Blanc, 2012 Riesling and the 2012 Vidal Blanc that also qualified for a Platinum Award. Only 11 Platinum Medals were awarded at this year’s event.
Dave Peterson, Owner of Swedish Hill, indicated that “our Rieslings continue to score big no matter who we are competing against. But it is also exciting to see our Finger Lakes sparkling wines and Cabernet Franc take home top awards.”
Located on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and owned by the Peterson Family, Swedish Hill’s tasting room has over 30 different wines, 22 of which are Gold Medalists, that range from dry to sweet white and red wines, sparkling wines, and distilled products.
