Swedish Hill Starts its 30th Year with Seven Golds!
Swedish Hill Winery is thrilled to start off the 2016 competition year with seven gold medals from two recent events, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Florida State Fair International.
The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the largest competition of American wines in the world and announced the winners from the 7,164 entries on January 13, 2016. Swedish Hill brought home two gold, four silver and five bronze medals at this event. The gold medalists included the 2014 Blue Waters Chardonnay Riesling and the 2014 Blue Waters Riesling.
More recently, the Florida State Fair International Wine Competition announced this week that amongst the winning wines Swedish Hill was honored with two double gold medals, two golds, five silver and three bronze. Their sparkling wine Naturel and the 2014 Riesling were awarded the double gold medals with the sparkling Riesling Cuvée, 2012 Cabernet Franc and 2014 Maréchal Foch being the gold medalists. The range in varieties amongst these top medalists attests to Swedish Hill’s continued success in producing an extensive product line of quality wines.
In 2015 Swedish Hill was awarded not only 65 gold medals for 21 different wines, but was also named “Winery of the Year” for the Eastern US at the acclaimed Critics Challenge and the Winemaker’s Challenge wine competitions. Each year the winery continues to stand up to its reputation as one of the top award-winning wineries of the region. Now going into its 30th year in operation, the Peterson family hopes to see another successful year at wine competitions across the country.
